New, and useful technique for clip-castrating young lambs
WatchProduct Description
Mini Bio Clips - packs of 100 sustainable wood & plant based clips for the kindest castration and tail-docking of the youngest/smallest lambs. Refer to Clip choice-chart for detailed suggestions on use. Clips are delivered as single identical mouldings, in bags of 100 complete clips. When applying;ying for the first few times, please check that the far end of the clip is tightly closed. If not, use the Fitter tip to close it up. It's really important that clips aren't even the chance to fall off!
It doesn't often happen but do be aware of the 'squidge effect' ! Scrotum skin when squashed will flatten out and became longer - and fill what looked like a fairly empty clip ! The reason we have a guard at the top end of one jaw is a) to hide the locking pin of one clip in order to avoid it being disturbed as you slide the clip across the 'appendage' ... so make sure you fit the clips this way round ...and b) to stop skin from squiggling up and interfering with the locking pin. Skin and wool have the potential to interfere - so, once again, please be aware of what you are doing.
As far as Fitters are concerned, clearly the Mini Fitters are designed for this size of clip, but it isn't impossible to fit the Mini Clip with any of the bigger Fitters - Midi or Maxi. Interestingly the top of the clip is closer, and the clip-to-clip approach is more parallel and possibly less likely to drop a ball, the bigger the Fitter. In this image the Mini Clips are repeatedly positioned opposite each other by rubber rings !
