After a year away from farms because of the corona virus, and a major fire at Offbeat Engineering our technical collaborators, we had to restart our development of applicators in March 2021.

The inspiration to do that came from the authorities (DEFRA, ScotGov) and industry leaders (NSA) all of whom, contacted us in early 2021 for an update.

In the absence of our high-end unit, destroyed for the most part in Brian Falconer’s fire, I started on the reproduction of the well known Burdizzo (RitcheyTagg called it the Nipper) – but adapted for our special clamp. The key objective was to make the applicator make-able since the origins of the Nipper seem to have vanished in the mists of time (and several tag-industry take-overs). So, we have solicited the services of Scottish Engineers CETA and Nottingham based MAUN Industries to do this for us, from prototype to production volumes. We are designing the product ourselves but it’s fantastic to have such wonderful experts working with us for the long term. The latest model is taking shape.
