Check your spec & pick your clips wisely

There are three sizes of clip made from two types of materials

Clip Size

Choose from MINI, MIDI or MAXI clips depending on the age/weight of lambs. Please refer to the lamb weight suggestions chart below. Recommendations are physiological estimates from field feedback – breed dependent of course, and if they are singles or twins etc.

Best for lambs up to 1 week or 7.5kg

Best for lambs up to 3 weeks or 12.5kg

Best for lambs up to 8 weeks or 20kg

Clip Materials

There are two types of Clip material – BIO or Plastic. Bio Clips are sustainably sourced and plant based – they are not conventional fossil fuel plastics. They degrade like wood chips – they don’t melt away. The abundance of microbes, and therefore the environment they fall into are key.

TAKE CARE NOT TO BUY TOO SMALL A CLIP – the clip can fail to close properly in there is too much flesh or wool interfering with the locking pin. Assuming you buy a bigger Fitter, then you can buy a selection of clip sizes to use as appropriate

Fitters

Three sizes and two styles. MIDI, MIDI & MAXI are specifically designed for each size of clip, however bigger Fitters will fit smaller cups with care.

Double and Single Handles for MIDI & MAXI refer to the way they work. Double Fitters are always closed until you open them, and the Single Fitters are open until you close them. Double Fitters are also offset to lift your hand up from the the body of the lamb.
